The European Space Agency has signed its first contracts under the European Launcher Challenge, directing over half a billion euros to Isar Aerospace, Rocket Factory Augsburg, and PLD Space as Europe moves to build sovereign, competitive launch capacity.
ESA and the European Commission have opened their flagship launch-support program to a broader set of providers just as Isar Aerospace's Spectrum rocket reaches the Norwegian launch pad — while SpaceX's Starfall reentry demo introduces new competitive pressure in an adjacent market.
